The baking division of a national food producer in Modesto, CA needed a probe mounting system that would:

1) protect the glass electrode from debris in the effluent flow stream;

2) provide a way to easily to remove the pH probe for servicing; and

3) provide a way to retrieve the pH probe with out performing a confined-space entry. We at Cooper Controls, Inc. also wanted a universal design that would work on any manufacturer’s pH probe.

What we came up with was the "Super Slide": a stainless steel pH probe mounting system for placing pH probes in areas that are difficult to access, such as confined spaces, manholes, open channels, flumes and large tanks. The result was that the client’s own maintenance technicians were able to retrieve their pH probes themselves without performing a confined-space entry or calling out a crew that was trained in confined-space entry, which reduced operating costs and increased pH monitoring accuracy.
